Biography:
Eric S. Hsu, MD, is Director of Education for the Pain Management Fellowship Program. Dr. Hsu is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Hsu teaches Pain Management in Medical School, and School of Nursing at UCLA. Dr. Hsu’s teaching activities also include the Anesthesiology Residency Program and Medical Student Advanced Clerkship; both programs are part of the Division of Acute and Chronic Pain Management Services. Dr. Hsu is board certified in Anesthesiology and has a subspecialty certificate and recertification in Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
After earning medical degree at Taipei Medical College in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Hsu completed a two-year Research Fellowship in Anesthesiology and Pharmacology at the Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and then served a Transitional Internship and a Residency in Anesthesiology. Dr. Hsu underwent fellowship training in Pain Management, and also being appointed as the Attending Anesthesiologist and Clinical Instructor at Stanford University Medical Center, Stanford, California.
As an invited lecturer, Dr. Hsu has delivered presentations on topics including pain management in elderly, herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome (reflex sympathetic dystrophy and causalgia), myofascial pain syndrome, cancer pain, and complimentary and alternative pain management. He has authored book chapters, review articles, research abstracts, , and book reviews and served on the faculty of the Acupuncture Workshop at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Hsu serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Medical Acupuncture.
