Presentation Title:
Prevention of Obesity

Dr. Lee will review the latest data about ethnic specific Body Mass Index (BMI) cutoffs and how to incorporate this and other preventive strategies into practice.

Time: Saturday Morning

Purpose:
To improve on clinical competence and performance in the prevention of obesity

Objectives:

  1. Differentiate the evidence for and against ethnic-specific definitions of obesity
  2. Apply measurement of ethnic-specific BMI
  3. Identify different approaches to preventing obesity in children and adult
  4. Prescribe appropriate diet therapy and physical activity

Staff Physician, UCLA Health System Thousand Oaks Medical Specialties and Prime Perfomance LA, Integrative Medicine

Bio:
Dr Lee is a native of Seattle, Washington and obtained her medical training at the University of Illinois followed by her internal medicine residency at USC. She then spent two years in a medical nutrition and weight management fellowship training at UCLA and in 2010, she started her private practice in downtown LA where she practiced medicine with her focus in weight management. In 2013, Dr. Lee she moved from her private practice and joined UCLA in the continuation of her internal medicine practice and helped with starting the 2nd Risk Factor Obesity Clinic, a medical weight management program in Thousand Oaks. Dr. Lee stayed active in the community of downtown Los Angeles by serving as a medical director for Prime Performance LA, a comprehensive wellness center which combines the practice of medical nutrition, wellness with fitness and rehab. Besides practicing, Dr. Lee is an active member in corporate wellness, giving seminars and medical grand rounds on topics of nutrition and lifestyle changes.
