Peter Ho Win

Presentation Title: Prevention of Blindness

Dr. Win will discuss guidelines to screen for visual loss with attention to recognition and new managment options for retinal macular degeneration.

Time: Saturday Morning

Purpose:
To improve on clinical competence and performance in preventing blindness in Chinese patients

Objectives:

  1. Review fundoscopic findings in these diseases
  2. Discuss how to set-up a system for screening and follow-up on patients for visual loss
  3. Identify when to refer patients with ARMD tro retina specialist for treatment
  4. Implement an educational protocol for patients for reduce the risks associated with ARMD (lifestyle modifications, systemic risks, vitamin intake)
  5. Perform screening for depression in patients with visual loss

Bio:
Dr. Peter Ho Win received his medical degree from the University Of Southern California School Of Medicine.    He did his internship in medicine at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center.  Subsequently, Dr. Win completed his ophthalmology residency at the renowned Mayo Clinic.   Finally, Dr. Peter Win accomplished his vitreo-retinal surgical training at the prestigious UCLA-Jules Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. Win has done research and published in multiple journals in the areas of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, vitrectomy, and intraocular tumors.  Dr. Peter Win has been honored with numerous awards.  He was the outstanding Resident of The Year at the Mayo Clinic, the Rosalind Alcott Fellow in vitreo-retinal surgery at Jules Stein Eye Institute, and the Fellow of The Year in Jules Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. Peter Ho Win started his private practice in Arcadia because he had a vision of how his expertise can improve the quality of life for his patients.  His mission is to deliver the utmost care for patients through his knowledge and compassion, while using cutting edge technology, treatment, and research. 

Currently, Dr. Peter Ho Win is also an assistant instructor at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center.  He enjoys teaching residents and fellows the clinical and surgical aspects of ophthalmology and retina. 

Dr. Win is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and American Medical Associations.
