Presentation: Technological Advances in Radiation Oncology for the Treatment of Prostate Cancer

Purpose: To provide overview of new technology used in radiation oncology
Objectives:
Review the new technologies in radiation oncology.
Describe how technological advances have resulted in improving outcomes in prostate and other cancers.

Bio:
Dr. Jeffrey Wong is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Radiation Research at City of Hope. He obtained his Bachelors Degree from Stanford University and M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He did his internship training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco.
In 1985, he joined the faculty at City of Hope. In 1999, he was appointed Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Wong is also Associate Director of the Prostate Cancer Program. Dr. Wong’s research and clinical interests are in the areas of immunoguided and image-guided targeted radiotherapy. He is the Principal Investigator of clinical trials at City of Hope involving the use of radiolabeled antibodies for therapy of colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and lung cancer. His research interests also focuses on image-guided targeted radiation therapy for prostate cancer and other malignancies, including most recently the development of targeted total body irradiation approaches in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
