 Dr. Simon Lo

Presentation: Biliary Diseases in Chinese Americans
Time:
Saturday Afternoon
Purpose: To provide a comprehensive review of biliary conditions seen in Chinese Americans
Objectives:
Recognize the various presentations of biliary conditions in Chinese Americans
Apply diagnostic modalities to evaluate biliary complaints
Determine how and when to treat patients with known biliary tract diseases

Presentation: Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancers   
Time: Saturday Afternoon
Purpose:
To educate a medical audience on the current approaches to diagnosing malignant pancreatic tumors
Objectives:
Identify the various types of pancreatic tumors correctly   
Utilize proper resources to investigate a suspected or confirmed pancreatic tumor   
Plan how to approach pancreatic cancers in an optimal fashion by working with surgeons, radiologists, gastroenterologists and oncologists

Bio:
Simon K. Lo, MD is Director of the Pancreatic and Biliary Diseases Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Lo is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Lo's interests include the diagnosis and management of pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and bile duct diseases. He is an expert in ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and a variety of specialized endoscopic technologies.

Dr. Lo is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and International Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Association. He has written articles for such peer-reviewed publications as the Annals of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Annals of Surgery.

Dr. Lo received his bachelor's degree from Queens College, City University of New York, and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. After an internship and residency in internal medicine at the UCLA-Wadsworth Veterans Administration Medical Center, Dr. Lo completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the UCLA Integrated Gastroenterology Training Program and post-graduate training in biliary endoscopy at the University of Amsterdam.
